Most ball machines are built for one sport. The Pongbot Aura is designed to feed tennis balls, pickleballs and padel balls from the same 7kg machine, and the Aura S version adds a dual-camera “Spotter” module that tracks your shots and turns the session into an AI coaching report. It’s the second-best-selling product on Pongbot’s store after the Pace S Pro, and pricing starts at $599.99 for the base Aura and $799.99 for the Aura S.

For this Pongbot Aura review, we went through Pongbot’s product page, comparison table and FAQ, worked out what each of the seven versions actually includes, and set the Aura against Pongbot’s flagship Pace S Pro. The goal is to help you pick the right version, or decide whether a single-sport machine makes more sense.

Aura vs Aura S: Which Version Is Which?

The product page lists seven options, which can be confusing. Here’s what they mean:

Version Price Spotter AI camera Sports included
Aura $599.99 No 1 of 3
Aura 3-in-1 $649.99 No All 3
Aura S $799.99 Yes 1 of 3
Aura S 3-in-1 $849.99 Yes All 3
Aura S + 50 tennis balls $859.99 Yes 1 of 3
Aura S + 40 pickleballs $869.99 Yes 1 of 3
Aura S + 50 tennis balls + dust cover $879.99 Yes 1 of 3

Two things stand out. First, if you think you’ll ever play more than one sport, the 3-in-1 versions are the better deal: they cost $50 more, while Pongbot’s comparison table lists a separate All Sports Unlock add-on at $99. Second, the AI coaching features (shot tracking, AI Coach, post-session reports) need the Spotter module, so the base Aura is a smart ball machine rather than an AI coach.

Pongbot Aura Review: Key Features

One machine for three sports

Aura handles balls from 40mm to 80mm, covering tennis (including the slower red, orange and green dot balls used for juniors), pickleball and padel. You choose one sport when you set it up. Pongbot says don’t mix ball types in the hopper, and recommends not mixing brands or very worn balls for consistent feeding.

Spotter AI vision (Aura S)

The Spotter is a 120fps dual-camera module that sits on top of the machine. It tracks shot speed, trajectory and landing points, then produces a personalized report after each session with suggestions on what to work on. With a separate Spotter Base, it can also be mounted beside the net to analyze matches between two players or for livestreaming. Pongbot’s “Match Challenge” feature lets you upload match footage and recreate the shot patterns as drills.

Drills, custom programs and voice control

Aura comes with a library of 10,000 drills across the three sports. In custom mode you can adjust spin type, speed, depth and frequency. It also has natural language voice control, and AI Coach voice guidance plays through your phone, so you can use Bluetooth headphones without disturbing nearby courts.

7kg and a swappable battery

At 7kg, Aura is light enough to carry between courts alongside your racket bag. The battery is swappable and rated for 5+ hours, so a spare battery could cover a full day of coaching. Note that the power adapter isn’t included: Aura comes with a USB-C cable, and Pongbot recommends a USB-C adapter rated at 60W or more.

How It Compares With the Pongbot Pace S Pro

Pongbot is clear that Aura isn’t an upgraded Pace S Pro. They’re separate product lines:

Aura S Pace S Pro
Price $799.99 $1,219.99
Sports Tennis, pickleball, padel Tennis
Tracking 60Hz (plus 120fps Spotter) 100Hz
Ball speed Baseline rally speeds Up to 80mph (130km/h)
Battery life 5+ hours 8+ hours
Best for Skill development, multi-sport players Advanced players and coaches

If you only play tennis and want pro-level pace, the Pace S Pro is the stronger machine. If you play more than one racquet sport, want something lighter, or are a beginner to intermediate player, the Aura gives you more flexibility for less money. We covered the flagship in our Pongbot Pace S Pro review.

Who It’s For

  • Multi-sport households where one person plays tennis and another plays pickleball or padel.
  • Beginner and intermediate players who want structured drills and feedback.
  • Coaches running junior sessions with red, orange and green dot balls.
  • Players who move between courts and want a 7kg machine.

Who It’s Not For

  • Advanced tennis players who need high-speed feeds: the Pace S Pro goes up to 80mph.
  • Anyone wanting AI coaching on a $600 budget: the AI features require the Spotter (Aura S).
  • Players who need it this week: Aura ships after a waiting period (see below).
  • Wet-weather training: Pongbot doesn’t recommend using it in rain or with wet balls.

Pongbot Aura Review: Pricing, Shipping and Returns

The Aura starts at $599.99 and the Aura S at $799.99 on the official Pongbot store, with the listing showing up to 55% off the regular price. Shipping is free, returns are free within 30 days, installment plans are available, and Pongbot advertises lifetime customer support. Check the shipping time before you order. The product page says “Estimated Shipping: 2 weeks after order confirmation”, while the FAQ says shipping is expected to begin 4–5 weeks after confirmation. Both say orders are fulfilled first come, first served. Plan for the longer estimate.

FAQ

What’s the difference between Aura and Aura S?

Aura S adds the Spotter AI vision module with dual cameras, which enables shot tracking, AI Coach and performance reports. The base Aura is a smart ball machine with drills, app control and voice commands.

Can Aura play all three sports out of the box?

Only the 3-in-1 versions. Standard versions unlock one sport; additional sports need a Sport Unlock Card.

How many balls does it hold?

120 tennis balls, 100 pickleballs or 120 padel balls.

Does it come with a charger?

It comes with a USB-C cable but no power adapter. Pongbot recommends a 60W or higher USB-C adapter.

Can I use it on clay or grass?

Yes. Pongbot lists hard, acrylic, concrete, clay and grass courts, with landing-point fine-tuning to adjust for different bounce.

Pongbot Aura Review: Bottom Line

The Pongbot Aura fills a gap that single-sport ball machines leave open. For around $650 in 3-in-1 form, you get a light, battery-powered machine that feeds tennis, pickleball and padel balls with a huge drill library. Step up to the Aura S 3-in-1 at $849.99 and it becomes an AI coach that tracks and reports on every shot. It isn’t built for pro-level pace like the Pace S Pro, and the shipping wait needs planning, but for multi-sport players and improvers it’s a flexible, well-priced option.

That wraps up our Pongbot Aura review. Compare all seven versions on the official Pongbot store.
